Welcome to Hyperjumps!
Explore exoplanets in an 8-planet solar system.
Enter planet numbers into a hyperjump sequence below. Each sequence must follow specific RULES and take you back to Earth (number 9).
Before making an 8-planet trip, first shorter trips to 5, 6 and 7 planets. Press to clear a sequence.
About
It's the year 2111. Humanity has invented a warp drive that enables a spacecraft to hyperjump to distant solar systems and back to Earth. The drive promises to revolutionize space exploration.
But there's a catch. The new technology is finicky and can only make hyperjumps that follow certain numerical rules. Earth's governing body has tapped you, an adventurous math explorer, to captain the first warp-drive-equipped starship in its fleet.
Your mission is to establish hyperjump routes to as many exoplanets as you can in a different solar system each day. Teams of scientists can then safely follow in your footsteps to study each planet in detail. Learn more >>

How to Play
Using the planet numbers shown, your mission is to complete:
four 5-planet sequences
three 6-planet sequences
two 7-planet sequences
one 8-planet sequence
Let's make a 6-planet sequence.
⊗
How to Play
Your sequence can start at the left with any two planet numbers. Let's start with 7 and 7 (more than one planet can have the same number).
⊗
How to Play
The next number must be the ones digit of the answer to one simple operation (+, −, ÷, ×) going left to right. If needed, we can combine previous planet numbers into a multi-digit number to subtract or divide the rightmost digit.
⊗
How to Play
Third-planet options:
7 + 7 = 14
7 ÷ 7 = 1
7 × 7 = 49
Only the last planet (Earth) can be 9, so the third planet could be 4 or 1. Let's enter 1.
⊗
How to Play
Fourth-planet options:
7 - 1 = 6
7 × 1 = 7
7 + 1 = 8
Let's enter 8.
⊗
How to Play
Fifth-planet options:
1 × 8 = 8
1 + 8 = 9
71 - 8 = 63
8 and 9 aren't options, and we can't do 1 − 7 (no negatives). But we can combine 7 and 1 to make 71 − 8 = 63.
⊗
How to Play
Sixth-planet options:
8 - 3 = 5
8 + 3 = 11
8 × 3 = 24
18 ÷ 3 = 6
5 and 1 aren't available, and neither 5 nor 1 works with the 9 at the end. But 4 works, since 83 - 4 = 79.
⊗
How to Play
Press LAUNCH to test your sequence. Congratulations! You've completed one hyperjumps trip.
⊗
How to Play
The sixth planet could also have been 6, since 18 ÷ 3 = 6 and 3 + 6 = 9. Enter the new sequence and press LAUNCH.
⊗
How to Play
While math operations must work left to right, you can input numbers in any order.

How to Play
Earn the rank of JUMPER by completing at least one trip. Launching 5-7 trips makes you an EXPLORER, 8-9 trips makes you an EXPERT and 10 trips makes you a MASTER.
